Link Popularity- An useful SEO tool March 15, 2006
Supatra ChowdhuryWhat is link Popularity? Link popularity is a helpful SEO tool that gives a general representation of the total number of web-pages linked to a website (or individual web-page). Major search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN support the “link:” operator. You have to type in “link:” (without the quotation marks) in front of the URL that you want to learn about.
How does this tool function? This tool will make a search in all the major search engines when you type in ‘link:’ infront of your preferred URL. It will give you the result of the total link count for each URL.
Does the result vary? However, the results will vary from one search engine to another. You will notice that the totals vary greatly because the figures shown actually represent the number of inbound-links that are fed to that search engine (which ofcourse varies on the size of their database). Search engines like Google even applies various filters against the inbound-links- as a result representation of inbound-links vary from one search engine to another.
Is link popularity important?. ? Link popularity is a major factor in influencing a site’s ranking in search results. Sites with more inbound-links generally rank higher than a similar site with less inbound links. However, anchor text is also a key factor besides inbound links to determining the positioning of a website.
Google Search Engine Remains Unbeatable March 7, 2006
Supatra ChowdhuryGoogle is the leading search engine provider in the cyber space. As a result it has alarmingly grown rivals like Microsoft, Time Warner and Yahoo! that are trying to eat into its lead.
Rumours have spread that Time Warner’s AOL unit and Microsoft’s MSN are planning to tie up for future deals where AOL would be using MSN’s search technology. AOL at present is using Google’s search engine.
However it is a true fact that MSN is developing a new program known as AdCenter. This programe is innovative in keyword seraches as it permits the advertisers to make any keyword search based on any data of a customer like gender, age or geographic location.
However, with all its new upgrades MSN is still not that mighty to overturn Google’s growth.
Answering Techniques of Different Search Engines
Supatra ChowdhuryRecently, all the SEOs have promoted the answering of specifics to a great extent.
However, the methods used by the different searchers vary greatly - Jeeves relies on fully automated, fairly standard search technology whilst Answers. com uses a combination of Google’s search and a database of detailed information input by human editors who’ve filled it from the answers to its users most raised queries.
Recent comparison testing reveals that Jeeves and Answers.com are comfortable with straight answers to straight questions than the others. Google scored pretty well but Yahoo and MSN failed to offer answers to specific questions within the first three pages of results .Few searchers go beyond the first two pages of results; therefore to them Yahoo and MSN are not at all reliable.
SEO Outsmarts PPC March 6, 2006
Supatra ChowdhuryThere are quite a few marketing tools widely available in the market, but SEO seems to stand apart from all of them. It outsmarts other marketing tools as it can give you a major boost for your business in just $500-3000. Perform a search on www.overture.com for a keyword phrase “Miami real Estate lawyers”. You will be surprised to find that law firms are paying $17.14 for Pay per click. However, this almost gets doubled when you “New York Real Estate Lawyers” - it goes upto $30.2. Now this is quite an amount for ppc. This means that you have to pay the search engines the amount that you have bid when the customer clicks your url even if he doesn’t buy any service. On the other hand if you are opting for SEO you are always in the high rank without paying. SEO psychologically stands apart because customers know that ppc unlike SEO are paid ads and therefore they show less preference to ppc.
Pay Per Phone Call Ads March 4, 2006
Supatra ChowdhuryGoogle Inc., one of the leading search engine giants in the cyber space industry, has come up with an innovative service called pay-per-phone-call ads, where a promising online ad model is successfully combined with the pay-per-click ads system. The Pay-Per-Phone-Call ads will link up the consumers and advertisers through telephones.
Google will charge pay-Per-Call advertisers only if their ads attract the consumers and lead them to contact the advertisers by phone. The cost of the ads will be determined by the advertising companies through an auction process.
A deeper market study also reveals that Google’s new online development like this, could reach approximately US$4.1 billion in 2009.
